Look out for this mark – it’s a sign of quality

A NEW "quality mark" for franchises in Singapore has been launched to help consumers identify those that meet accepted standards and to promote the franchise business.

The Singapore Franchise Mark identifies franchises, which have good business practices and strong capabilities.

The scheme for the mark was unveiled at Franchise Day 2000 recently when 11 businesses became the first to receive the quality recognition stamp. One of the pioneer recipients was Calfarme (Singapore) Pte Ltd for its franchise business ---CALFARME BIOCLEANING & HYGIENE SERVICES.

"The Singapore Franchise Mark is a certification scheme to recognise franchisors that have achieved commendable standards," said Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Trade and Industry Tang Guan Seng at the award function.

"Potential franchisees can better evaluate the franchises and consumers will have a greater assurance of quality. The net effect is a more vibrant, dynamic and fast-growing franchise sector."

Franchisors that are awarded the mark earn the right to display it prominently on their retail premises, promotional and advertising material.

The scheme was developed jointly by the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board (PSB) and the Singapore International Franchise Association.

Since the Franchise Mark helps to identify franchisors that adhere to sound and ethical franchise practices, it provides greater transparency for the franchisees, said the PSB.
